Welcome to Florida Forensics! 

Florida Forensics specializes in Forensic DNA Testing, concentrating in Nuclear, Y-STR and Mitochondrial DNA testing as well as biological screening of blood and semen. In addition, we provide Paternity Testing, Expert Witness Testimony and Case Reviews for defense and prosecution at our in-house private laboratory located in Jacksonville, Florida. 

We are proud to announce our acceptance into the FDLE DNA Pilot Program!

The FDLE's DNA Pilot Program allows participating Florida law enforcement agencies who have been pre-approved by FDLE, the option to submit evidence, at their own expense, directly to Florida Forensics for analysis.  The resulting DNA profiles are subsequently submitted to FDLE for quality review and entry into and comparison with state and national databases (e.g. CODIS).  To date, the FBI only allows laboratories associated with criminal justice agencies to enter profiles into the CODIS national database.  In addition to ASCLD/LAB accreditation, the FDLE reviewed Florida Forensics' standard procedures, its physical lab space and requires compliance with FBI Quality Assurance Standards as well as additional FDLE requirements outlined in the pilot program.

History

Florida Forensics was incorporated in January, 2005 in Jacksonville as the sister company to Bernhardt Laboratories, which has operated a successful pathology practice for over 20 years. Our DNA Technical Leader, Dr. Julie Sutton, has nearly 20 years of forensic analytical experience. We are fully accredited in nuclear DNA testing by The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors / Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB).
